I live in dunga bunga.
The name Dunga Bunga is Hindustani, Dunga means downside and bunga means a locality. It generally means downside locality but older people of Dunga Bunga assert that the name of city is associated with two Sikh brothers Dunga and Bunga. Dunga Bunga (Urdu: ڈونگہ بونگہ) is a small city of Bahawalnagar District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The city is a Union Council of Bahawalnagar Tehsil[1] and is located near to the city of Bahawalnagar at 29°45'0N 73°15'0E with an altitude of 154 metres (508 feet).[2] It lies on the Haroonabad-Bahawalnagar road. The Population of Dunga Bunga is round about 100,000 according to the 2006 census. Dunga Bunga is not a developed city as this whole area of Bahawalnagar is being isolated by the government of Punjab and it has always been failed in bringing some development changes in this particular area of Bahawalnagar. With Bahawalnagar the area of Dunga Bunga is also affected in terms of progressive development. Dunga Bunga has more than 50 villages around it the most nearer towns around this city are Soondha, Gulab Ali and Rasulpura these are the towns around it. HistoryDunga Bunga is very close to the Indian border after passing some towns passing the last town RamNagar. The border area of Dunga Bunga was used for smuggling to India because there was no line of control (LOC) at that time and it was usual to pass Indian side for Pakistani people and for Indians to enter in Pakistani area.
In 2003 unrest broke out in the town when hospital officials refused to conduct an autopsy on a tonga drive, the family of the driver were believed to have been treated badly and this resulted in mob violence and police retaliation. By the time calm had been restored, 19 police officials were reported injured, a labourer and shopkeeper were killed in the firing and five others were seriously injured. These five were taken to a hospital in Bahawalpur the district capital.
